A residential intensive driving course allows you to travel to one of the areas we cover and complete concentrated, one-to-one driving lessons close to your chosen practical test centre.
Tell us about your test
Send us your practical test date, test centre, transmission preference and a brief summary of your previous driving experience.
We check instructor availability
We look for a suitable fully qualified driving instructor who can provide your lessons in the area and around your existing test arrangements.

Already have your practical test booked?
Tell us the test centre, date and time when you enquire. We can then check whether a suitable instructor and residential course schedule may be available.
Coverage varies according to instructor availability, course dates, transmission preference and the learner’s previous driving experience. Your location is not confirmed until we have checked these details with you.
Stay close to your lessons and test centre
Once your residential intensive driving course has been confirmed, we can help you identify convenient areas in which to look for accommodation. This can make travelling to your lessons easier and allow you to concentrate on the course.
Convenient location
Look for accommodation within practical travelling distance of your agreed lesson meeting point and driving test centre.
Choice to suit your budget
You remain free to choose the hotel, guest house or other accommodation that best suits your preferences and budget.
Time to focus
Staying locally can reduce unnecessary daily travel and help you concentrate on your driving tuition between lessons.
Accommodation is booked separately
Accommodation is not included in the driving-course price. You book and pay your chosen accommodation provider directly after your course availability has been confirmed.
Follow the right order
Send us your practical test and course details.
Wait while we check suitable instructor availability.
Receive confirmation of the proposed course arrangements.
Book accommodation once the course has been confirmed.
How a residential intensive driving course is structured
Your tuition is planned around your current driving ability, the hours available and the date of your practical test. Rather than taking one lesson each week, you complete concentrated periods of one-to-one driving tuition during your stay.
Establish your current ability
Your instructor will identify your existing strengths, areas requiring development and the skills that need the most attention. This helps ensure the available course time is used purposefully.
Build consistency across different roads
Lessons can cover the areas relevant to your development, including junctions, roundabouts, meeting traffic, faster roads, manoeuvres, independent driving and safe decision-making.
Respond to your progress
Your instructor can review your performance as the course develops and adapt the focus of later sessions. This allows additional time to be given to the areas where it is most useful.
Prepare for independent driving
Where appropriate, the later part of the course can include independent driving, test-style practice and familiarisation with the types of road found around your chosen test area.
Tell us about your driving experience and test arrangements. We can discuss the most suitable course option before availability is checked.
Who are residential intensive driving courses for?
Residential courses can be a practical option for learners who are prepared to travel and want to dedicate a concentrated period to their driving. However, they will not be the right choice for every learner.

Residential intensive driving course FAQs
Find answers about test bookings, accommodation, course hours, instructors and how to enquire about a residential driving course.
Do I need to have my practical driving test booked?
Yes. Residential courses are generally planned around a practical driving test you have already booked. When you enquire, send us the test centre, date and time so that we can check whether a suitable instructor may be available.
Is accommodation included in the course price?
No. Accommodation and travel are not included in the driving course price. You choose, book and pay the accommodation provider directly. We can help identify convenient areas in which to look once your course arrangements are confirmed.
When should I book my accommodation?
Wait until we have confirmed instructor availability and the proposed course arrangements. We advise against booking non-refundable accommodation or travel before your driving course has been confirmed.
How many hours of driving tuition will I need?
This depends on your previous experience, current ability, confidence and how much development is required. Tell us how much driving you have already completed so that we can discuss an appropriate course option.
Can complete beginners take a residential course?
A residential course may be possible for a beginner, but concentrated tuition is not suitable for everyone. Some new learners benefit from having more time to practise and reflect between lessons. We will need an honest description of your experience before discussing the available options.
Are manual and automatic courses available?
Manual and automatic residential intensive driving courses may be available, depending on the test-centre area, dates and instructor availability. Select your preferred transmission when completing the enquiry form.
Is use of the instructor’s car for the test included?
This must be agreed as part of your course arrangements. Use of an instructor’s vehicle for the practical test depends on the instructor being satisfied that it is safe and appropriate for you to use the car independently on test.
Does completing the course guarantee that I will pass?
No driving school can guarantee a driving-test pass. Your result will depend on the standard of driving you demonstrate independently on the day. The purpose of the course is to provide focused tuition and help you develop safe, consistent driving skills.
When is my deposit paid?
You will not be asked to pay a deposit simply to submit an enquiry. We first check the information you provide and look for suitable instructor availability. Payment arrangements will be explained if a course can be offered.
What information should I include with my enquiry?
Include your name, contact details, postcode, transmission preference, practical test centre, test date and time, previous driving experience and the dates on which you can attend the course.
Ready to plan your residential driving course?
Send us your test details, driving experience and preferred transmission. We will check whether a suitable fully qualified instructor may be available in your chosen test-centre area.
