Before choosing a course

Start with Your Circumstances, Not Just the Number of Hours

The lowest-priced option is not necessarily the most appropriate. Consider your experience, availability and practical-test position before deciding which course applies to you.

01

Do You Have a Test Booked?

A fixed practical-test date changes the time available and the way your tuition must be planned.

02

How Much Experience Do You Have?

Consider previous professional lessons, private practice and how independently you can currently drive.

03

Manual or Automatic?

Instructor availability and the time required to develop control may differ between manual and automatic tuition.

04

When Are You Available?

A workable course requires enough availability to match the schedule offered by an appropriate instructor.

Choose Hours Around Your Existing Test

What Is Included in Your Driving Course Price?

Your price covers the agreed period of one-to-one professional tuition. Some inclusions differ depending on whether you choose the standalone 25-hour course or have a practical test already booked.

One-to-One Tuition

Your booked driving time is dedicated to your individual development rather than being shared with another learner.

Qualified Instructor

Tuition is delivered by a fully qualified, DVSA-approved driving instructor.

Manual or Automatic

Choose your preferred transmission, subject to a suitable instructor being available in your area.

Agreed Lesson Schedule

Your tuition is arranged around the timetable agreed with your allocated instructor.

Standalone 25-hour course

When You Do Not Have a Test Booked

This option concentrates on developing your driving without committing the course to a particular test date.

  • Twenty-five hours of driving tuition
  • Course adapted to your ability and progress
  • Flexible scheduling, subject to availability
  • Preparation for continued lessons or private practice
  • No practical-test time included
Test-already-booked courses

When Your Practical Test Is Already Booked

The agreed course hours include the time required for the practical test and associated arrangements.

  • Agreed number of tuition and test hours
  • Course structured around the existing test date
  • Preparation based on your current driving ability
  • Use of the instructor’s car only when agreed
  • Test-centre travel and timings considered

What Is Not Automatically Guaranteed?

A course does not guarantee that you will reach test standard or pass a practical test within a fixed number of hours. Home collection, a particular timetable and use of an instructor’s car for a test must all be confirmed as part of your individual course arrangements.

Availability Is Confirmed Before We Request a Deposit

Contact us with your postcode, experience, transmission preference and availability. If you have a test booked, include the exact date, time and test centre. We will check for a suitable instructor before asking you to make a course payment.

Choosing your course

How Many Hours of Driving Tuition Might You Need?

There is no reliable one-size-fits-all answer. The appropriate course depends on what you can currently do, how recently you have driven and how much development is required before your practical test.

Previous Instructor Lessons

Consider how many professional lessons you have taken and how recently that tuition occurred.

Private Practice

Regular, properly supervised private practice may increase your experience, but its quality and variety also matter.

Level of Independence

Think about how much prompting you currently need with junctions, planning, positioning and decision-making.

Test Date and Location

The time available and the travel required for your chosen test centre affect whether a proposed course is workable.

Manual or Automatic

Transmission choice can affect both instructor availability and the practical skills you need to develop.

Learning Pace

Learners develop at different rates. Previous hours alone do not establish how much preparation you still require.

Shorter course consideration

Substantial Recent Experience

A lower-hour option should only be considered when your driving foundation is already strong and recent.

  • Generally safe and consistent car control
  • Experience across varied road conditions
  • Limited areas requiring instructor support
  • Realistic preparation time before the test
Mid-range course consideration

Some Useful Driving Experience

A medium-length course may suit someone who has a foundation but still needs broader development and greater independence.

  • Basic controls are reasonably established
  • Some junction and traffic experience
  • Several skills still require development
  • Further consistency and planning are needed
Longer course consideration

Very Limited Experience or Beginner

A longer course provides more development time, but intensive learning still requires realistic expectations and availability.

  • Controls and routines still being established
  • Limited independent road experience
  • Multiple topics require structured practice
  • Additional practice may still be required afterwards

Do Not Choose Too Few Hours Solely to Reduce the Price

A practical test should only be attempted when you can drive safely and independently. Booking a shorter course does not reduce the amount of development you genuinely need, and no fixed number of hours can guarantee test readiness.

Course and payment questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Course Prices

Find answers about deposits, course hours, practical tests, instructor availability and choosing the most appropriate option.

Do I need a practical driving test booked before choosing a course?

No. If you do not have a suitable test booked, you can choose our standalone 25-hour get-up-to-speed course .

You can then continue practising privately, arrange further lessons or combine both while looking for a suitable practical test.

How much is the standalone 25-hour course?

The total price is £1,090. A £140 deposit is requested after suitable instructor availability has been confirmed, followed by the remaining £950 balance.

This standalone course does not include a practical driving test.

When do I pay the course deposit?

Do not pay a deposit before contacting us. We first check for an appropriate instructor and workable lesson schedule in your area.

Once availability and the relevant arrangements have been confirmed, we will explain how to pay the deposit.

Does the standalone 25-hour course include a practical test?

No. The standalone 25-hour option provides 25 hours of driving tuition but does not include a practical-test booking, test fee or use of an instructor’s car for a future test.

Do test-already-booked course hours include the test?

Yes. The hours shown for the test-already-booked packages include the time allocated to the practical test and associated driving.

The exact arrangements, including use of the instructor’s car, must be agreed before the course is confirmed.

How do I decide how many hours to book?

Consider your previous professional lessons, private practice, how recently you have driven, your current independence and the areas that still require instructor support.

If your test is already booked, also consider how much preparation time remains before that date. Contact us if you are uncertain rather than choosing solely by price.

Can I use my instructor’s car for my practical test?

Test-car use may be included in a test-already-booked course when it has been specifically agreed. It depends on instructor availability, the test location and whether the instructor is satisfied that you can attend safely in their vehicle.

Test-car use is not automatically included with the standalone 25-hour course.

Are manual and automatic courses the same price?

The displayed course prices apply to the course options shown. Manual and automatic tuition are both subject to suitable instructor availability in your area.

Any different arrangement or additional charge will be explained before you make a payment.

Is collection from my home included?

Collection arrangements must be agreed with your allocated instructor. They depend on your location, the proposed lesson schedule and whether a different meeting point is required for productive use of the course time.

Am I guaranteed to reach test standard or pass?

No. Learners develop at different rates, and no responsible driving-course provider can guarantee a practical-test pass.

Your instructor will work with you to develop safer and more independent driving, but additional tuition or practice may be required after the hours originally booked.

Can I practise privately alongside my course?

Yes, provided the vehicle is correctly insured for the learner, displays L plates and is supervised by someone who meets the legal requirements.

Private practice is most useful when it reinforces skills already introduced and explained by your instructor.

What if I need more lessons after completing the course?

You can discuss further professional tuition with your instructor or our team. Additional lessons are subject to availability and will require a separate payment arrangement.

What happens if I need to cancel or change my course?

Cancellation and amendment arrangements depend on the notice provided and the terms applying to your booking. Read our course terms and conditions before making a payment.

Still Unsure Which Course to Choose?

Send us your postcode, transmission preference, experience and availability. If your test is booked, include its date, time and location.
