Driving-test booking rules have changed
New rules introduced during 2026 affect who can manage a practical test, how often it can be changed and which test centres it can be moved to.
Your booking can only be changed twice
Changing the date, time or test centre counts as a change. If you use both changes, you will generally need to cancel the appointment and make a new booking.
You must manage your own driving test
Only the learner driver can book, change or cancel their car driving test. Instructors and third-party booking services cannot manage the appointment for you.
Test-centre moves are now limited
A booking can generally only be moved to one of the three nearest test centres. Choosing a suitable area when you first book is now particularly important.
Plan your test and training together
Avoid using unofficial services that scan for appointments. Book and manage your test through the official DVSA service, choose your test area carefully and speak to us about tuition before using your limited booking changes.
