The right number of hours depends on more than how long you have been learning. Your recent driving experience, confidence, test date and opportunities for private practice can all make a difference.
Driving-test booking update
The Rules for Booking a Driving Test Have Changed
Learner drivers must now book and manage their own car driving test. Driving instructors, course providers and other third parties can still offer guidance, but they cannot manage the booking on the learner’s behalf.
You Control Your Booking
Only the learner taking the car driving test can book, change, swap or cancel that appointment.
Two Appointment Changes
A car driving-test appointment can normally be changed or swapped no more than twice before it must be cancelled and rebooked.
Location Changes Are Restricted
When moving a car test, the available alternative centres are restricted to the permitted nearby test-centre group.
Give Enough Notice
You normally need to give at least 10 full working days’ notice when changing or cancelling to avoid losing the test fee.
