MATLOCK COURSE FAQs

Questions about intensive driving lessons in Matlock

Find clear answers about choosing a course, booking online, lesson arrangements and preparing for a practical driving test.

Can I book an intensive driving course in Matlock?

Yes. Manual and automatic intensive driving courses may be available in Matlock, subject to suitable instructor coverage and a workable lesson timetable.

Select the course and transmission you want before completing your online booking.

Do I need a practical test booked before starting?

You do not need a practical test for the standalone 25-hour Get Up to Speed Course. It is designed to develop your driving skills before you continue practising or arrange a test.

The 5–45-hour preparation courses are specifically for learners who already have a confirmed practical test booking.

Which course should I choose?

Your choice should reflect your existing experience, current ability and whether you already have a test booked. Learners who are still developing basic control and road skills will generally require more tuition than someone approaching test standard.

If you are uncertain, use our course recommender before booking.

How intensive will my lesson timetable be?

The timetable depends on the course selected, your availability and the instructor’s schedule. Lessons follow the timetable agreed when your course is booked.

Intensive does not necessarily mean completing every lesson within a few consecutive days. The schedule must remain realistic, safe and suitable for effective learning.

Can my driving lessons start from home?

Home collection may be available where it forms part of your agreed arrangements. Your instructor will confirm the lesson starting points and timetable before the course begins.

Will I practise on rural and hilly roads?

Where appropriate, lessons may include gradients, bends, narrower roads and rural routes around Matlock. Your instructor will only introduce more challenging situations when they are suitable for your current ability.

The aim is to develop safe, transferable skills rather than to memorise specific routes.

Can I use the instructor’s car for my driving test?

Use of the instructor’s car must be included within your confirmed test-booked course arrangements.

The instructor will refuse use of their car if they consider that you have not reached the standard required to take the practical test safely. This protects you, the examiner and other road users.

What happens after I complete my booking?

We begin arranging a suitable instructor and workable lesson timetable. Once these arrangements are complete, we log you into our Pupil Portal.

The portal confirms your schedule, instructor contact details and instructions for paying the remaining balance.

What if suitable arrangements cannot be provided?

If we cannot provide suitable instructor and timetable arrangements, your booking deposit will be refunded in full.
