Book or Manage Your Driving Test
Use the official GOV.UK services when you need to book, check, change or cancel a practical driving-test appointment.
The Learner Must Manage the Test Booking
Car driving tests must be booked and managed by the learner driver. A driving instructor, driving school or third-party service cannot do this on the learner’s behalf.

Search for and book an available official practical driving-test appointment.

Confirm your existing appointment details using the official online service.

Cancel through GOV.UKSwap Your Test With Another Learner
Both already have a car test booked, but would prefer each other’s appointment? DVSA may allow you to exchange your existing test dates, times and centres.
- Both learners must have at least one permitted booking change remaining. A swap uses one change each.
- Request the swap at least 10 full working days before the earlier test. Monday to Saturday count, excluding public holidays.
- Both bookings must meet DVSA’s test-centre restrictions and test-type rules.
- Both learners must phone DVSA separately on the same day. Swaps cannot be completed online.
Check instructor availability and readiness before agreeing. Never share your driving licence number or payment card details with another learner. Read the full eligibility and calling instructions below.
